Entrepreneurship plays a pivotal role in the growth and development of any economy. In fact, it can be considered a national asset, and entrepreneurs are the primary drivers of the prior mentioned asset. Every economy is limited by resources, and these resources require proper utilisation. Entrepreneurship can help properly utilise underutilised resources, be it natural or human resources, amongst others. Entrepreneurship can help accelerate economic growth, enhance innovation, promote social change, and increase research and development.
India is undergoing major changes in its demography. It is a known fact that India’s population is on the rise. However, India is also known to have a young population, and it is considered a demographic dividend. It is going to be a difficult task to employ the growing Indian population, be it in the public sector or private sector. The youth needs to be encouraged to consider entrepreneurship and start-ups rather than seeking employment and be a job giver than a job seeker.
The entrepreneurship cell at the college/university can play a crucial role in motivating and giving necessary help to foster entrepreneurship amongst young college students. It is even more important for Undergraduate Institutes as the students at UG level are not primarily geared towards placements and employment like their PG-level counterparts. The entrepreneurship cell can also play a pivotal role in promoting start-up culture.
